 Regular Exercise Stress Test

Regular Exercise Stress Test
During a regular exercise stress test, you are connected to an EKG machine while you exercise on a treadmill.  During this time, we monitor your heart rate, blood pressure and EKG tracings.   Abnormalities on this test may indicate possible blockages in one of more of the coronary (heart) arteries or the presence of an abnormal heart rhythm.

Test preparation:  No caffeine for 12 hours prior to the test.  Do not apply any lotions or creams to the chest wall.  Wear comfortable clothing and shoes.  Please hold your beta-blocker the morning of the test unless your physician specifies otherwise or your blood pressure is greater than 140/90.  Beta-blockers include Toprol and Lopressor (metoprolol), Tenormin (atenolol), Coreg (carvedilol), Inderal (propanolol), Corgard (nadolol), Ziac (bisoprolol), Labetalol or Pindolol. Take all other medications as usual.
